IPL Auction: Pravin Tambe creates a big record in IPL history, became the oldest to play


The Auction for the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League has come to an end. In this, many players got more than expected, while many did not get buyers.

Meanwhile, All the attention in the auction was on 48-year-old leg-spinner Pravin Tambe. He remained unsold in the first round but in the second round, he was brought by Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 20 lakh, which was his base price. With this, Pravin became the oldest player to participate in IPL 2020.

Pravin Tambe had surprised World Cricket by making his debut in IPL on behalf of Rajasthan Royals at the age of 41 in 2013. However, he has not played in the IPL since 2016. In the year 2017, he joined Sunrisers Hyderabad, but he did not get a chance in the playing XI.

Tambe has taken 5 wickets for 15 runs in T10 league:

During his absence in the IPL Tambe played in many T20 leagues and continued to take wickets. Last year, he took 5 wickets for 15 runs in the T10 league which included the wickets of Eoin Morgan, Kieron Pollard, Fabien Allen, Chris Gayle, and Upul Tharanga.

Tambe was the only players of 40 or older in IPL Auction 2020:

Tambe was the only player in the auction at 40 or older. After Tambe, 38-year-old Fawad Ahmed was among the players aged. Prior to this, former Australian Chinaman bowler Brad Hogg and Tambe were the players who played in the IPL at the age of 45. This was the record of the oldest player ever in this league.

Praveen Tambe has been part of the Rajasthan Royals, Gujarat Lions and Sunrisers Hyderabad team in IPL. He has played 33 matches in IPL so far, in which he has managed to take a total of 28 wickets.
