IPL 2020: Kings XI Punjab appointed KL Rahul as the new captain of the team

Kings XI Punjab has included many match-winning players in the IPL 2020 auction. The Punjab franchise bought Glenn Maxwell, Sheldon Cottrell, Deepak Hooda, Ishan Porel, Ravi Bishnoi and James Neesham.

The highlight of the Kings XI Punjab in the auction was Glenn Maxwell, whose bid was Rs 10.75 crore.

After buying several key players, Kings XI Punjab team management has announced KL Rahul as their new captain for the Indian Premier League 2020.

The Karnataka batsman has been in tremendous form for India in the absence of Shikhar Dhawan. The right-handed batsman played a blistering knock of 102 off 104 balls in the second ODI against the West Indies.

KXIP Co-owner Ness Wadia said, "We are happy to appoint Rahul as our captain for the upcoming season." He has done a lot in the last one year and is now coming back strongly.

"He has silenced his critics. You will see his ability not just as a batsman but also as a captain." He said that he was our unanimous choice. Rahul also had an impressive performance in the recently concluded Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

Rahul was one of the most successful batsmen of the IPL 2019 season. He scored the highest 593 runs in the tournament after Sunrisers Hyderabad opener David Warner (692 runs).
