NZ vs ENG, 1st Test: England's superb batting performance on 1st day, 3 batsmen scored half-centuries


By the end of the first day of the first Test against New Zealand, England scored 241 for 4 wickets in the first innings. Ben Stokes 67 and Ollie Pope 18 are at the crease. The entire 90 overs were played on the first day and 3 batsmen managed to score a half-century.

Earlier, England won the toss and decided to bat first. Batting first, England openers Rory Burns and Dominic Sibley added 52 runs for the first wicket. After this Sibley was dismissed for 22 runs. Joe Denly joined Burns at the middle and Burns was dismissed for 52 but by then both batsmen had formed a half-century partnership for the second wicket.

Joe Denly played brilliant innings of 74 runs. He added 83 runs for the fourth wicket after Joe Root (2) was dismissed along with Ben Stokes.
Stokes continued to play even after completing his half-century. Stokes remained unbeaten on 67 by the end of the day's play. Ollie Pope was at the crease with him scoring eighteen runs. Colin de Grandhomme took 2 wickets for New Zealand. While Tim Southee and Neil Wagner got 1 wicket each.

New Zealand would like to strike with the new ball and wrap the Innings by tomorrow and England will want Stokes and Pope to carry on.
