Afghanistan Cricket Board has announced 15-member squad for the upcoming World Cup which is to be held in England from May 30. Fast bowler Hamid Hassan has been back in the team and the Afghanistan team will be led by Gulbuddin Naib.
Hamid Hassan's return to the team after three years. He played his last ODI against Ireland in 2016. He was out of the team due to heel, knee and thigh injuries. This team from Afghanistan looks strong and balanced.
The team has experienced names like Asgar Afgan, Rashid Khan, Mohammad Nabi and Mohammad Shahzad. Apart from them, Rashid Khan, Mohammad Nabi and Mujeeb ur Rehman are currently playing in the IPL and explosive batsman Hazaratullah Zazai has also been selected in the team.
The batting department of Afghanistan has Mohammed Shahzad, Rahmat Shah, Najibullah Zadran and Asghar Afghan. Rashid and Nabi are two main spinners who can prove to be useful with the bat too.
While the responsibility of fast bowling will be on the shoulders of Hamid Hassan, Daulat Zadran and Aftab Alam and Afghanistan will its world cup campaign against Australia on June 1.
