The 'Men in Blue' will start the new year with 3-match T20 series against Sri Lanka. The first match of the series is scheduled to be played in Guwahati's Barsapara Cricket Stadium on Sunday, 5th January.
In this match, India captain Virat Kohli is on the verge of achieving a big world record. Virat needs just one more run to overtake his teammate Rohit Sharma. With this, he will become the highest run-scorer in T20 Internationals. At present, Virat and Rohit have scored 2633 runs.
Rohit will not be part of the team as he has been rested which means Kohli can easily overtake him and consolidate his position at the top of the list.

Kohli looked in excellent touch in recently concluded T20I series against West Indies. He smashed 94 off 50 balls in the first T20I and in the 3rd T20I, he scored an unbeaten 70 off 29 balls and helped the Indian team to win the series by 2-1.
Kohli will be keen to continue the same form against neighboring country Sri Lanka, especially considering the T20 World Cup later this year.
