Pink Ball Test: Kohli and Pujara scored brilliant half centuries, Virat becomes fastest to achieve this record, India lead by 68 runs

The day-night Test between Bangladesh and India is already started in Kolkata. Batting first, Bangladesh were all out for 106 in the first innings and in reply Indian team scored 174-3 at stumps on the first day.

India has gained a lead of 68 runs. Kohli remained unbeaten on 59 along Rahane 23 at the end of the day's play.

Bangladesh First Innings:

Earlier Bangladesh won the toss and decided to bat first and made two changes in the team. They replaced Al-Amin Hossain and Naeem Hasan in place of Mehdy Hasan and Taijul Islam. On the other hand, there was no change in the Indian team.


Bangladesh started badly and Ishant Sharma dismissed Imrul Kayes (4) in the seventh over of the match, then Umesh sent captain Mominul Haq (0) and Mohammad Mithun (0) to the pavilion in the 11th over. In the very next over, Mohammad Shami dismissed Mushfiqur Rahim (0) to reduce Bangladesh score to 26-4.

Meanwhile, Shadman Islam (29), who was playing well was dismissed on the score of 38 by Umesh. Litton Das and Mahmudullah made a small partnership of 22 runs, but Mahmudullah (6) was also dismissed at the score of 60.

Linton Das was retired hurt at the score of 24, he was hit by Shami on the helmet, which made the onfield umpires to call for the lunch. Bangladesh lost 6 wickets and scored 73 in the first session.


The second session was good for the Indian team as Ishant Sharma dismissed Ebadot Hosain (1) and Mehdy Hasan (8) who came to bat as a concussion substitute for Liton Das. Meanwhile, Naeem Hasan scored 16 runs despite struggling and helped his team to cross the 100 run mark

However, on the score of 105, Ishant took his 5th wicket of the innings by dismissing Hasan (19). In the very next over, Shami dismissed Abu Jayed to bundle up Bangladesh's innings for 106 runs. For India, Ishant Sharma picked 5 wickets, Umesh Yadav bagged 3 and Shami got 2 wickets.

India's First Innings:

The Indian team did not start well in the first innings and Mayank Agarwal (14) was dismissed by Al Amin at the score of 26. However, Rohit Sharma (13*) and Cheteshwar Pujara (7*) did not let India suffer any more blows until tea time. Al Amin was also given life by Rohit Sharma in the last over before the tee. India scored 35/1 after the second season.


The start of the third session was bad for India and the team lost the wicket of Rohit Sharma at the score of 43. After this, skipper Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara added excellent partnership and took the score beyond 100 and also gave the team an edge on the basis of the first innings.

During this period, Virat Kohli completed his 5000 runs as captain and also became the fastest player to achieve this feat. Pujara also completed his half-century but he missed a big inning and was dismissed for 55 runs.

However, Kohli held one end and played several brilliant shots. Kohli also completed his half-century. He and Rahane did not let India loss any more wickets till stumps. At stumps, India's score was 174-3 after 46 overs. For Bangladesh, Ebadot Hosain took two wickets and Al Amin took one wicket.
