Deepak Chahar was adjudged Man of the Match for his superb bowling (3/20). With this win, Chennai Super Kings have reached the top of the points table with 10 points.
Kolkata Knight Riders Innings:
Earlier, Chennai skipper MS Dhoni won the toss and invited KKR to bat first. Batting first, Kolkata Knight Riders lost four wickets in the first 5 overs. Chris Lynn (0), Sunil Narine (6), Robin Uthappa (11) and Nitish Rana (0) were dismissed inside the powerplay.
After this, Andre Russell scored unbeaten 59* off 44 balls but still, he could not take his team to a respectable score. For Chennai, Deepak Chahar took 3 wickets, Harbhajan Singh and Imran Tahir took 2 wickets each.
Chennai Super Kings Innings:
In reply, Chennai openers started off well, and they lost the wickets of Shane Watson (17) and Suresh Raina (14) and CSK scored 57-2 after 10 overs. After this, Rayudu and Plessis shared 46 runs, Rayudu scored 31 off 21 balls.
Faf du Plessis played a fantastic inning of 43 runs to take Chennai home. Kedar Jadhav also remained unbeaten with 8 runs. For Kolkata, Sunil Narine took 2 wickets and Piyush Chawla took one wicket.
