IPL 2019: 3 Major reasons why RCB faced the defeat against CSK in first match

The first match of the 12th season which was played between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore on Saturday. During this match, Dhoni won the toss and decided to bowl first, this decision proved 100% right for CSK and the RCB lost the match by 7 wickets. The performance of RCB team was very disappointing in this match. So in this article, we will look at 3 major reasons why RCB faced a shameful defeat in the opening match. Let's see.

1. Disastrous Batting Performance:

RCB's batting was a disappointing story to digest. Kohli and Parthiv Patel got involved in a 16-run partnership for the first wicket, after that no batsmen stay long in the crease. Parthiv Patel scored 29 runs and none of the batsmen other than him touched the double figures mark. Kohli scored 6 runs and De Villiers scored just 9 runs in 10 balls. Shimron Hetmyer (0), Shivam Dubey (2), Colin de Grandhomme (4), Navdeep Saini (2), Umesh Yadav (0) and Yuzvendra Chahal (4) and the whole RCB team could score only 70 runs.

2. Great Spin bowling by Chennai:

The Spinners of Chennai Super Kings performed tremendously in this match. The veteran bowler Harbhajan Singh, who came on the field after a long time, bowled brilliantly. During his spell, he gave 20 runs and picked three important wickets for his team.
In addition, in his 4 overs, Imran Tahir bowled 1 maiden, gave 9 runs and picked 3 wickets. The Bangalore batsmen had no clue about his variations and looked very uncomfortable facing the legendary South African bowler.

3. Losing the toss:

Losing the toss is also one of the main reasons for RCB's defeat. The pitch was already dry and it was specially made for spin bowlers. In such a situation, the team winning the toss automatically win the match.
