History created by the Lankan team in South Africa. In the 2nd and final test match of the series which was played in Port Elizabeth, Sri Lanka beat the host South Africa by 8 wickets and won the 2-match test series by 2-0 and becomes the first Asian team and 3rd team overall to win a test series in South African soil.
Earlier in the first inning of the test match, the Protease captain Faf Du Plessis won the toss and decided to bat first. Batting first, South Africa had a disastrous start by losing 3 quick wickets for just 15 runs, Amla (9), Elgar (6) and Bavuma (0).
Later, Aiden Markram scored 60 runs and de Kock contributed important 83 runs to take the teams to total to 222 in the first inning. For Sri Lanka, Vishwa Fernando and Rajitha took 3 wickets each. Apart from them, Dhananjaya took 2 wickets and Karunaratne took one wicket.
In reply, the Sri Lanka team bundled out for just 154 runs in 37.4 overs and gave the host a lead of 68 runs. For South Africa, Rabada picked 4 wickets for 38 runs and Olivier took 3 wickets for 61 runs. While Niroshan (43) was the top scorer for Sri Lanka in the first Innings.
After the first innings, South Africa was in commanding position to the win the test and level the series 1-1, but the Lankan team made a great comeback in the second Innings and dismissed the entire South African team for just 128 runs.
South Africa gave a decent target of 197 runs to Sri Lanka. During the chase, the Lankan team lost 2 early wickets for 35 runs but after that, the duo of Oshada Fernando (75*) and Kusal Mendis (84*) added 163 runs partnership for 3rd wicket and thrashed the home side by 8 wickets.

For his spectacular performance in the series, Kusal Perera was awarded the 'Man of the Match', he scored 224 runs in 2 matches with an average of 112. Apart from him, Kusal Mendis was given the 'Man to the Match' award for his an unbeaten knock of 84.
