IND vs AUS: 4 Reasons why India faced a humiliating defeat in first ODI, No.1 is the biggest mistake

In the first ODI match between India and Australia played at Wankhede, the visiting team trashed the hosts to take 0-1 lead in the 3-match series. The Aussie openers remained unbeaten and chased down the target set by India.

These 4 mistakes could be responsible for India's humiliating defeat in the first ODI, if India had avoided these mistakes then it could have registered a thrilling win.

1. Virat Kohli came to bat at number 4:

Indian captain Virat Kohli sent himself to bat at number 4, which surprised many. Kohli's record playing at number 4 has not been efficient when compared to batting at number 3 and even today he could not do anything special with the bat.

2. Indian openers failed to give a good start:

Indian opener Rohit Sharma has been in fine form especially playing against Australia. Even today, the fans had similar expectations, but during 4.3 overs, he was dismissed for 10 runs.

 3. Unbalance team combination:

India's team combination against Australia was confusing. On the flat pitches of Mumbai, Virat and the team management should have selected Navdeep Saini in the Playing 11 along with two frontline spinners Kuldeep and Chahal.

4. Middle-order didn't capitalize on the opportunity:

After the first wicket fell quickly, Lokesh Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan tried to revive the team, and they were successful in doing this. But when Dhawan and Rahul both were dismissed, the middle order failed and from then the batting was sinking down quickly.
