The biggest ICC award was given to England all-rounder Ben Stokes, who was awarded the ICC Player of the Year with the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy. While Australian fast bowler Pat Cummins won the Test Cricketer of the Year award.
Rohit Sharma - ODI Cricketer of the Year:
Hitman Rohit Sharma was sensational in 2019. He became the first batsman to score 5 centuries in the World Cup 2019 and finished as the highest run-scorer in the tournament. He ended the year with 7 ODI centuries.
Virat Kohli Won the Spirit of Cricket award:
Kohli won many hearts during India vs Australia match in the World Cup 2019 when he asked the spectators to clap for Steve Smith instead of sledding.
Steve Smith, along with David Warner, was banned for a year for the ball-tampering scandal in 2018 in Cape Town. In England, both Smith and Warner faced tough times due to the crowd and when Smith was fielding near the boundary, some fans pinched him.
Virat Kohli, who was batting at the time, asked the crowd to stop doing so and instead appealed to appreciate Steve Smith. Speaking to the media after the match, Virat Kohli said that he also apologized to Steve Smith on behalf of the crowd.
