Irfan Pathan has announced his retirement from international cricket. This decision did not surprise as Pathan was out of the team for a long time. He played his last match for India in 2012.

1. 9 Wickets for 16 runs:

Irfan Pathan took 9 wickets for 16 runs at the Youth ODI in Lahore. Which is the best figure to date, In that match, his left-handed swing ball wreaked havoc of the Bangladeshi batsmen. Needless to say, Pathan emerged as a young sensation who got a direct entry into the Indian team.

2. The only bowler to take a Test hat-trick in the first over:

Every fan still remembers this date, on 29th January 2006, when Irfan Pathan was all over Pakistan in the Karachi Test. In this match, India won the toss and asked Pakistan to bat first. Irfan Pathan came to bowl the first over and he took a hat-trick on the last three balls of the over.

3. 'Man of the Match' in T20 World Cup final:

In the first T20 World Cup which took place in South Africa in 2007. India reached the finals and crowned as the winners by defeating Pakistan and Irfan Pathan became the 'Man of the Match' in this final. He took 3 wickets for only 16 runs in 4 overs.

4. Only Asian to win 'Man of the Match' in Perth:

In the third Perth Test, 2008, India created history by defeating Australia by 72 runs. In this match, Pathan proved his all-rounder ability, he scored 28 runs in the first innings and 46 runs in the second innings.

With the ball, he 2 wickets in the first innings and 3 wickets for 54 runs in the second innings and was adjudged 'Man of the Match' for his match-winning all-round performance.

This was the first time in history when an Asian player won 'Man of the Match' at Perth. Even today Pathan is the only Asian player to do so.
