Indian cricket team's explosive opener Rohit Sharma has gained a lot of points in the Test rankings. On the other hand, captain Virat Kohli suffered heavy losses despite scoring a double century in the 2nd test. This new ranking has been released after the conclusion of the 3-match Test series with South Africa. Rohit has now entered Top 10, he was earlier ranked 12th.
Rohit proved to be the biggest find of the Test series against South Africa, who scored 3 centuries in the entire series including a double century and became the only batsman to score 500 plus. He scored 529 runs in 4 innings of 3 Tests which averaged 132.25 and a strike rate of 77.45. Rohit also scored his first double Test century in Ranchi.
In this match, Rohit scored 212 runs, due to which he was also given Man of the Match and Man of the Series for overall performance.
At the same time, Kohli has lost some of his points in the Test rankings. In the batting rankings, Steve Smith (937 points) still holds the first place, while Virat Kohli (926) is in second place, but he has lost 10 points.
Cheteshwar Pujara is in fourth, Ajinkya Rahane has moved up four places to the fifth position. Out of the top 10, Mayank Agarwal is ranked 18th and Ravindra Jadeja is at the 40th position after a loss of one place. For South Africa, Quinton de Kock is at 13th place with a loss of three places, Dean Elgar 15th with a loss of one place and Faf du Plessis in 16th position by a loss of five places.
Taking about the bowlers, Ashwin has slipped from 7th to 10th in the ICC Test rankings and due to his absence, Jasprit Bumrah has also slipped one place from number 3 to number 4. Pat Cummins continues to hold the first place in the bowling rankings, followed by Kagiso Rabada at second and Vernon Philander is in eighth place.
Out of the top 10, Ravindra Jadeja has moved up to 14th, Mohammed Shami has gained one place to 15th, Umesh Yadav has gained one place to 24th and debutant Shahbaz Nadeem opened his account at 86th position.
