BCCI: Shikhar Dhawan joins India A team for last two ODIs against South Africa A


Shikhar Dhawan has been selected in the India A team for the final two matches of the ODI series being played against South Africa A

Indian opener Dhawan has been included in the squad in place of injured Vijay Shankar. All-rounder Vijay Shankar is ruled out of the remaining series due to a thumb injury. The selection committee, headed by chief selector MSK Prasad, confirmed this
Left-handed batsman Dhawan returned to the series against the West Indies after being injured in the World Cup. His performance in the Caribbean tour was disappointing and in three T20 matches against the West Indies he scored just 27 runs and 38 runs in two ODI matches.

Recently, the Indian team has announced for the upcoming T20 series against South Africa. Shikhar Dhawan has also been selected in this team. Apart from him, KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma have been included for the role of the openers. Just before this T20 series, Shikhar Dhawan has a good chance to improve his rhythm.
South Africa A is currently on a tour of India where they have to play a five-match ODI series. Host India A took a 2-0 lead in the series by winning the first and second match played in Thiruvananthapuram. The third match of the series is to be played in Thiruvananthapuram on 2nd September.
