In a humdinger of a final, Mumbai Indians held their nerve and edged Chennai Super Kings by a solitary run to claim their 4th IPL title. It was a sensational comeback by the Men in Blue who looked out of it at the end of the powerplay in the 2nd innings.
However, Rahul Chahar and Jasprit Bumrah brought them back by bowling 8 overs between them and picking up 3 wickets for just 28 runs.
Shane Watson kept CSK in the game with a well-paced fifty but his dismissal in the final over proved to be the turning point. CSK required 2 runs off the final delivery but Malinga's slower delivery deceived Shradhul Thakur and trapped him LBW to seal the win for Mumbai
Earlier, after opting to bat Mumbai started well in the powerplay but couldn't sustain the momentum as Chennai hit back with wickets at regular intervals. Keiron Pollard top-scored with an unbeaten 41 and guided them to a reasonable total.
