IPL 2019: RCB beat KKR by 10 runs, Kohli scores finest century, Bangalore still in the race

In the 35th match of Vivo IPL 2019, which was played between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore in Eden Gardens. In this match, Bangalore defeated Kolkata by 10 runs and registered their second win of the season.

Virat Kohli was adjudged Man of the Match for his spectacular innings. This is the fourth consecutive defeat of KKR and third at home. With this win, RCB is still in the playoff race with needing 5 wins in 5 matches.

Royal Challengers Bangalore Innings:

Earlier, Kolkata won the toss and decided to bowl first. Batting first, Bangalore had an ordinary start and they lost the wicket of Parthiv Patel (11) in the fourth over. RCB's score was 42-1 after 6 overs.

After this Moeen Ali and Virat Kohli counter-attacked and increased the speed of scoring and Kohli completed his half-century in 40 balls and added 90 run partnership with Moeen Ali, he Ali scored 66 runs off 28 balls.

After Ali's dismissal, Kohli took an aggressive approach and kept on hitting big shots. He completed his century in 57 balls and was dismissed in the last over. RCB scored 91 runs in the last 5 overs and posted 213 runs in 20 overs.

Kolkata Knight Riders Innings:

In reply, Kolkata Knight Riders lost three big wickets in the form of Chris Lynn (1), Sunil Narine (18) and Shubhaman Gill (9) in the powerplay and the score was 37-3 after 6 overs.

However, after this Rana and Russell started playing big shots, Rana completed his 50 in the 16th over. In the last two overs, KKR needed 43 runs and Russell, with two sixes in the same over, completed his half-century in 21 balls.

Russell scored 65 runs off 25 balls, while, Nitish Rana remained unbeaten on 85 runs, and Bangalore won the match by 10 runs. For RCB, Dale Steyn took 2 and Navdeep Saini and Marcus Stoinis took one wicket each.
