The Protease is hosting the Island nation Sri Lanka for a match of 5 ODIs. In the second match of the series, which is being played in SuperSport part in Centurion on Wednesday. In this match, batting first South African scored just 251/10 in 45.1 overs.

Earlier, Sri Lankan skipper Lasith Malinga won the toss and opted to bowls first. Batting first, the South African openers de Kock and Reeza Hendricks gave a solid start to the team by adding 91 runs for opening stand in 14.2 overs.

Reeza Hendricks scored 26 runs, while Quinton de Kock was hitting well and missed his century by just 6 runs, he scored 94 off 70 balls with the help of 17 fours and 1 six.

Later captain Faf du Plessis batted along with the middle order and scored 57 runs off 66 balls which includes 7 fours. With this knock, he has completed 5000 runs in his ODI career and also created some big records to his name.

Faf du Plessis who completed 5000 runs today against Sri Lanka has created history and left India's former captain Ganguly and Dhoni behind in the case of fastest to score 5000 runs in One-day Internationals.

Faf du Plessis reached this milestone in his 125th Innings, while Ganguly took 126 innings and Dhoni took 134 Innings to reach this feat.

Apart from this, Faf du Plessis also become the 3rd fastest South African batsmen after Amla (101) and AB de Villiers (124 ) to complete 5000 runs in fewest Innings.
