IPL 2019: KKR defeated Punjab by 28 runs, jumps 3 places in points table, 4 records created

In 6th match of IPL 2019, Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Kings XI Punjab by 28 runs in Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Batting first, Kolkata posted a huge score of 218-4 in 20 overs. In response, Kings XI Punjab scored 190-4 run, Andre Russell was awarded Man of the match for his all-round performance.

Earlier, Kings XI Punjab captain Ashwin won the toss and decided to bowl first. Batting first, Kolkata openers Sunil Narine and Chris Lynn scored 34 runs in 2.4 overs. However, after the powerplay, the score of Kolkata was 53-2.

Robin Uthappa and Nitish Rana shared a good partnership of 110 runs. Rana scored his consecutive half-centuries of the season and scored 63 runs off 34 balls and Robin Uttappa scored 67* off 50 balls. Later, Russell scored 48 off just 16 balls and took KKR to 218 runs.

In reply, Punjab had a poor start and they lost the wicket of KL Rahul in the second over and Gayle scored 20. At the end of the powerplay, Punjab's score was 51-2.

Mayank and David Miller added 74 runs but Piyush Chawla broke the partnership. Mayank scored 58 runs off 34 and Miller remained unbeaten at 59 along with Mandeep Singh's 33.

With this victory, the 2-times champions Kolkata Knight Riders jumped 3 places from fourth to first with 4 points. While Chennai slipped down to second place and Delhi is at 3rd position followed by Punjab at 4th.
