3. Chennai Super Kings vs Kolkata Knight Riders - IPL 2011:

In the opening match of IPL 2011 between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders. In this match, Chennai won the toss and decided to bat first and gave a decent target of 154 runs to Kolkata.

In reply, Kolkata had dream start and added 93 runs for the first wicket, but after that KKR lost too many wickets in regular intervals. In the end, KKR needed 9 runs off 6 balls but scored just 6 runs in the 20th over and Chennai won the thrilling match by 2 runs.

2. Kolkata Knight Riders vs Royal Challengers Bangalore - IPL 2008:

In the inaugural edition of IPL in 2008, the first match of the season was played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

In this match, Brendon McCullum played a superb inning of 158 runs off 73 balls and took KKR's score to huge 222 runs. In response, the entire RCB team was bundled out for just 82 run and Kolkata Knight Riders won the match by massive 140 runs.

1. Mumbai Indians vs Chennai Super Kings - IPL 2018:

In 2018, Chennai's team was returning after suffering a 2-year ban and their first match was against Mumbai Indians at Wankhede. Batting first, Mumbai Indians scored 165 runs. In response, Chennai had a poor start and lost six wickets for just 84 runs.

Chennai needed 47 off last 3 overs, that's when Dwayne Bravo smashed 5 sixes and later when 9 wickets fell, injured Kedar Jadhav walked into bat and hit the last ball boundary to take Chennai to the victory.
