AFG vs IRE: Afghanistan creates history in Dehradun Test, defeats Ireland by 7 wickets

In the only Test which was played between Afghanistan and Ireland in Dehradun. In this match, Afghanistan defeated Ireland by 7 wickets and created history. This was Afghanistan's second Test and they registered the best win after facing defeat against India in the debut test match.

Early, Batting first Ireland scored 172 runs in the first innings, in response to Afghanistan scored 314 runs and took 142 runs lead. In the second innings, Ireland fought well and scored 288 runs and gave Afghanistan a target of 147 runs on the fourth day.

Playing on 29/1, Afghanistan chased the target in 48th over before lunch on the fourth day. Rahmat Shah played a magnificent inning of 98 in the first innings, also scored 76 runs in the second innings and played a fine partnership of 139 runs with the Ihsanullah for the second wicket. Ihsanullah scored an unbeaten 65.

Rahmat Shah was adjudged as 'Man of the Match'. He scored 174 (98 and 76) in the match. Rashid Khan took seven wickets in the match and became the first bowler to take 5 wickets in an innings for Afghanistan.
