3 Possible Reasons why Karthik was dropped from the ODI series against Australia

Recently, BCCI announced the Indian team for the T20 and one-day series against Australia and everyone was surprised when Dinesh Karthik was dropped from the ODI team while he was retained in the T20 team.
It's worth mentioning that, Dinesh Karthik made his International debut in 2004 and his career was unstable as he had unable to represent the Indian team regularly. But after the knock in the Nidahas trophy final against Bangladesh, he was drafted into the team again. But now again his selection was not made for the important series to be played against Australia before the World Cup. Let's us know the 3 possible reasons behind Karthik's exclusion.

3. KL Rahul returns to the form:

KL Rahul has been facing a lot of criticism for his poor form but he recently made a good comeback in the unofficial test series against England Lions. Rahul scored 89 in the first test and 81 runs in the second test. With this comeback, it was obvious that the selectors would give KL Rahul a chance and the only place to be replaced was of Dinesh Karthik.

2. Rishabh Pant second choice wicketkeeper:

The selectors have given Rishabh Pant the role of the second wicket in the ODI team along MS Dhoni ahead of Dinesh Karthik. Earlier, in a press meet, MSK Prasad said, we want to give enough chances to Rishabh Pant before the world cup.

1. Poor performance in New Zealand and Australia tour:

Dinesh Karthik had a good opportunity to show his worth in the team in the recently concluded Australia-New Zealand tour. But unfortunately he had a poor outing, In two ODIs against New Zealand Karthik scored 38 runs and was out for a duck in one match which India lost. And in 3 ODIs against Australia, he scored just 37 runs.
